Preschool is an important time to learn vital academic readiness skills from the letter and number recognition to rote and one-to-one correspondence counting. But this is also an important time to develop self help skills, social skills and interactive play with peers. We will be accomplishing all this through circle time, free play time, center work, and group activities.

The Preschool Lottery Process:
The Preschool Application is due to Cherry Brook by February 6, 2026
The printed Preschool Application must be returned to Cherry Brook Primary School or scanned and emailed to ssavino@cantonschools.org
The Preschool Lottery will open on February 9, 2026
Lottery notification will take place on February 10, 2026 via our Preschool Teachers
Students chosen in the lottery attend Preschool Screening on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 9:00am at Cherry Brook Primary School
Sparkler
The Canton Public School District is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Office of Early Childhood to introduce the Sparkler app that will help all Connecticut children get off to a strong start.
Sparkler is a free mobile app in English and Spanish for families with children (0-5). Sparkler can be a great source to find parent/child activities that you can complete with your child, these activities will encourage your child's development. In addition, you will find many resources providing information and tips on common parenting topics. Sparkler also offers routine child developmental screenings parents can choose to complete, the results will be scored and shared with you.
