AP THEORY PERFORMANCE








AP Music Theory offers a clear and thorough introduction to the resources and practices of Western Music from the 17th century to the present day. Students will employ a variety of techniques to clarify underlying voice leading, harmonic structure and formal procedures. The AP Music Theory students will develop the ability to recognize, understand and describe the basic materials and processes of music that are heard or presented in a score. The student will develop aural, sight-singing, written, compositional and analytical exercises. The AP student will solve compositional problems and become proficient in part-writing. Students will receive ear-training and skills for aural identification and dictation notation. The AP Music Theory exam is a three-hour standardized exam scheduled for  May.
