Grading policy:
Tests 35%
Quizzes 25%
Homework 15%
Classwork 15%
Participation 10%
Tests/Projects: Tests will normally be given once per chapter. Review packets may be given for each test and one class period may be devoted to review prior to the test. There will be occasional projects throughout the year.
Quizzes/Homework: There will be at least one major quiz per chapter plus smaller quizzes when appropriate. Homework will be assigned daily. Work must be shown on all assignments. Late homework is not accepted.
Materials: In order to thrive in this class, each student is responsible for being prepared for class. The following materials need to be brought to class on a daily basis: 1½” 3-ring binder, notebook paper, a pencil, and at least a scientific calculator (TI- 30 II S).
Tardiness/Class Cuts: Tardiness is not tolerated. Please be on time. Per the student handbook, a class cut will result in a deduction of three percentage points from the marking period average.
Cell Phones: I will give one warning if I see a cell phone. The second time I will confiscate the phone and call home.
Missed assignments: If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to get any missed notes or assignments. For an excused absence, it is the student’s responsibility to show me homework on the day the student returns to class.
Extra Help: If you are struggling in class or with homework, I am here to help – just be sure to GET HELP FAST! Ask questions in class when you need to! There is also a math teacher available for math lab periods A - E. I am in there Period D. I will post an updated math lab schedule in my room. I am also available for extra help with prior notice.
Cheating: Per the student handbook, any student caught cheating will receive a zero on the assignment. If a student lets another copy work ranging from homework to projects, both students will receive a zero.
Contact Information: Email is the best way to contact me but I can be reached by phone as well. pcanny@cantonschools.orf or 693-7707. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
