Band Program
Fifth Grade Band takes place each Monday for 40 minutes. Sixth Grade Band takes place each Tuesday for 40 minutes. In addition to performance literature, there is an emphasis on developing music literacy and all basic musicianship skills.
Lessons
All of the students enrolled in band receive one 30 minute lesson each week. Lesson times rotate so as to minimize any interference with the other academic areas.
Chamber Music
As the students reach a more advanced level, they will begin to work on chamber music, such as trios and quartets, as a part of their lessons. Fifth and sixth grade group members, who have done exceptional work on these pieces, will be given the opportunity to perform at Chamber Music Night in late March.
Extra Ensembles
Additional Ensembles may be offered to students based on interest and skill level. Groups vary from year to year and take place outside of the regular school day.
