A Typical Day in Room 1
Kindergarten

When the  children arrive, they will hang up their coats and backpacks, put their picture in the attendance pocket, sign in and then do table work.
We have our Opening as a group.  Children will have jobs such as calendar, meteorologist, attendance, etc.  We  have  phonemic awareness and minute math activities during opening.

We  have a special each day, possibly two.   Look at our specials schedule for our weekly schedule.
Math, reading, writing, science, social studies are integrated throughout our daily and weekly curriculum.

We would have total group work  and centers with small group work.
We have Guided Reading, Reader's Workshop and Writer's Workshop during the week.

I have a special activity that I will do with each student during the year on their birthday .  I call it a Special Someone.  I trace the student and each classmate will say something positive about the special someone.  I write the positive comments around the traced student and then the special someone will be able to color him/herself in and take it home.  These comments usually mirror our class rules and general manners.
We have recess and snack each day, unless it is rainy or too cold and then the snack would be inside.
