CBPS PTO Meeting Minutes

  • Welcome and Introductions - People mingled until the meeting was called to order at 6:42 by Nicole Evans.
  • Minutes from June’s meetings were reviewed and approved.
  • Executive Board Election of Mary Donahue for Co-Vice President was approved.
  • PTO Executive board introduced themselves and gave an overview of the variety of activities that the PTO is responsible for.
  • Treasurer’s Report presented by Tracy. Cash flow statement was reviewed.
  • Account Balance 8/01/12 - $9138.95
  • Fundraising for 8/01/12-9/05/12 as follows:
  • Membership dues - $745
  • Box Tops -$13.27 (cost to ship Box Tops)
  • Spirit Wear – $131.61
  • Expenses
  • Administration $1098.34 (calendars and meet and greet supplies)
  • Hospitality $127.34 (Teacher’s back to school breakfast)
  • Community Spirit $334.49 (Picture books for school)
  • Total Expenses $1560.17
  • Account Balance 9/05/12 - $8442.12
  • Projected expenses - $1210.00 for covers and iPad supplies for the 10 refurbished iPads
that were recently purchased.
        

  • Principal’s Report: Andy thanked everyone for coming to the meeting during the busy back to school time. He mentioned that CBPS has a total of 530 students, 20 less than last year, including 117 Kindergarteners. There are 10-12 new CBPS teacher/staff members. Due to the new Common Core Curriculum that is being implemented, teachers are being asked to overhaul curriculums to align with the new standards – this is a very large task! Three goals for this school year include:
  • Progress Reports -A revamped, more parent friendly, standards based progress report will be unveiled this year.
  • Reading goal –All students leaving CBPS will be reading at grade level. An action plan to help reach this goal is currently being created.
  • Writing – Raise achievement in all subcategories.
  • President’s Report: Jeanine Fundraiser packets will go home on 9/14, kick off assembly for the fundraiser  will be held on 9/21. There will be 2 $50 gift certificates from the Perfect Toy and an Ipod Nano for the top sellers. Orders are due 10/3 and delivery will be 10/9. Volunteers are still needed to help with orders and delivery. Nicole also reported that orders can be made online and orders will be delivered to home (except perishables). Nicole closed by thanking everyone for coming and encouraging people to volunteer is some way, big or small.
