Allow Me to Introduce Myself!

EDUCATION: I have dual certification, having graduated from City University of New York with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and University of Hartford with a Masters of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. EXPERIENCE: I was a stay at home mom for thirteen years until I got my first teaching job right out of graduate school where I began teaching in Farmington as a half day kindergarten teacher. I chose to do this becasue our youngest daughter was also starting kindergarten and I could be home with her in the afternoons. After two years I moved to Cherry Brook School where a full time kindergarten position was available. I have currently had experience teaching kindergarten, first grade and now second grade. I find this experience to be beneficial in helping to understand the progression the children have gone through to get to this point.
PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION: My emphasis in teaching is on providing a safe and nurturing community of learners, in which the individual academic needs of each child is met. As important as teaching information and skills is, at this young age, I believe that one of the most critical tasks I have as a teacher is to help instill in my students a love of learning and of school.
INTERESTS: I live in Farmington with my husband and three children. I love to read, cook, hike and teach. |
