Surrender leaflets like this one began to be issued on June 28, 1950, during the Korean War to get the North Koreans to surrender. The poor, hungry family in the lower left hand corner has been separated from others by the war. Seeing this, as well as the destruction of the buildings in the background, the woman in the foreground in praying for peace. Here, the back of the leaflet makes reference to the front saying that all families are separated by war. They have not ony been separated from other families and from their regular lives, but wives, husbands, and children have been torn apart as well. The pamplet is clearly pro-South Korean; it states that the communist North Koreans have no freedoms while the South Koreans have all the freedoms.
