10/28/2016 - Physics students compete at the Yale Physics Olympics
Recently four standout AP Physics students gave up their Saturday to compete against 49 other teams at the Yale Physics Olympics.
Seniors Ethan Porter, Henry Engvall, Matthew Pickett and junior Gabriel Mesa represented Canton in the 19th year of the event. Pictured is their cardboard paddle boat which though surely the best looking, was not the fastest though. They also experimentally found the surface tension of water and answered Fermi Problems such as if all the soda consumed in America in a year was made into a sphere, how large would it be? The day was capped with an fun physics demo show by Yale graduate students.
