Thank you to all the families that have graciously volunteered to host are visiting students from China. We are still in need of one more family to host a visiting male student! The students will be arriving the evening of May 17th, and departing the morning of May 20th. We hope you can make the presentation “What Kids Wish You Knew About Prejudice and Bullying & What Parents Can Do”, which will take place on Monday, May 9th from 6:30 to 8 pm in the Middle School Cafeteria. Space is limited for this adult only, interactive presentation so reserve your seat by contacting Lynn Young at email@example.com or by calling the business office at 860-693-7704. Topics of discussion will include micro aggressions & diversity issues in schools, key roles that people play in instances of bullying and cyberbullying, and prevention and intervention strategies for parents.
We hope you can make the Opening Celebration of the Art Show on May 17th beginning at 6 pm in the lobby outside the auditorium. You will be amazed at the fantastic art pieces that will be on display, all from the hands of our talented student body. Mark your calendar! You won’t be disappointed! If you are unable to make the opening reception, note that the artwork will be on display until the 25th.

Note that graduation rehearsals will be held on June 9th from 12:15 to 1:30, and on June 10th from 9:30 to 11 am. Graduation is on June 10th at 6:30 pm.
Year-end and Graduation:
- Congratulate your CHS senior with balloons on your mailbox or front porch! Why not consider sending a balloon greeting in lieu of a traditional card! Check this out to find out how!
- As you may already know, graduation will be on Friday, June 10th at 6:30 pm. If you are interested in a graduation DVD, please us this order form.
- Graduation Lawn Signs are still available! Contact Linda Solomon at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to commemorate our 2016 graduates by placing a sign in your yard! Signs will be sold in front of the school (weather permitting) before the Instrumental Music Concert on Wednesday.
- Remember that the CHS Senior Scholarship Awards will be held on June 1st .
- Online ordering for yearbooks is closed. You can still order a yearbook. Extra copies are first come, first serve. Send in cash or a check for $45 made out to CHS. Be sure the student name is identified. Send info to Mrs. Ruby’s Attention.
- Forget about making dinner on the 11th and head down to Moe’s Southwest Grill in Avon in support of the CHS Substance Free Graduation Party! Present this flyer to ensure that 15% of your sale will go to support SFGP. We hope you can make it!
This year we are rolling out a brand New CHS Summer Reading Program! This year, faculty members have put together a comprehensive list of all their favorite books. Students can view all of these titles on the summer reading website. Students MUST select their top two choices by Tuesday, May 10th. Our goal is to have students and staff reading, discussing, and enjoying their books as a community of readers!
Mark your calendars for the End of the Year Sports Awards Celebration to be held onWednesday May 25th at 7pm. Beginning at5:30 pm the Maui Hawaiian Coffee and Pulled Pork Food Truck will be serving food and beverages outside the school. All proceeds will go to Canton Athletics. Bring your family and friends to celebrate all the achievements that our athletes have accomplished this year.
Save the Date for the Free Football Safety Symposium to be held on May 24th at 7 pm in the auditorium. This program is for parents, coaches and athletes at the youth and high school level that are playing or are interested in better understanding the facts around athletic safety related to all sports so that you can make an informed decision on whether to play the game or not. The program will feature Chris Golic, Advisor with the USA Football’s “Heads Up Football” and Mike Golic, former NFL player.
If you haven’t already done so, please take this 5 minute anonymous survey. This survey will help us identify and understand our technology needs with regard to students and staff. This survey was completed this week during CHAT by some students, and others will be completing it over the next few weeks. We appreciate your input!
Do you have any questions about our School District? Do you have suggestions regarding our School District that would help us continuously improve our practices? If so, we would love to hear them. Over the next two months, Superintendent Case invites you to have coffee with him - Coffee and Conversation with Kevin - to discuss any issue that you would like. Kevin will be at LaSalle's Market from 10:00 AM - 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 18th. We hope you can join Mr. Case for this informal conversation regarding our schools. UCONN ECE official registration begins with Mrs. Schwager NEXT WEEK. Students who have not handed in a consent form will not be able to register.
SENIORS: We are so excited to hear your college decisions! If you have not stopped by officially to let us know, please do, as we can't send final transcripts otherwise.
JUNIORS: The deadline to sign up for the JUNE 4 SAT is May 11! Most juniors should be taking the test on this date, if you did not take it in May.
