We hope you were able to make it Tuesday night for the very informative program on “Raising Teens”.  In case you were unable to make it, we wanted to provide you with the Powerpoint presentation from the evening so that you may have it as a reference tool.  Please take a few minutes to peruse as your leisure.

Mark your calendars for the End of the Year Sports Awards Celebration to be held onWednesday May 25th at 7pm.  Beginning at5:30 pm the Maui Hawaiian Coffee and Pulled Pork Food Truck will be serving food and beverages outside the school.   All proceeds will go to Canton Athletics. Bring your family and friends to celebrate all the achievements that our athletes have accomplished this year.

If you haven’t already done so, please take this 5 minute anonymous survey.   This survey will help us identify and understand our technology needs with regard to students and staffThis survey was completed this week during CHAT by some students, and others will be completing it over the next few weeks.  We appreciate your input!

We are still in need of host families for our visiting students from China!!  In mid-May of this year, we expect to have sixteen students visiting our campus from China.  Although more information will follow, we would like you to begin considering having one of these students house with you for the two days/nights during this time.   This would surely be a great opportunity and learning experience for both your family as well as the visiting student.   If you are interested in this once in a lifetime opportunity, please contact Lorene Chellgren at lchellgren@cantonschools.org or 860-693-7707 ext. 7002.  Thank you for your consideration.

Do you have any questions about our School District? Do you have suggestions regarding our School District that would help us continuously improve our practices? If so, we would love to hear them. Over the next two months, Superintendent Case invites you to have coffee with him - Coffee and Conversation with Kevin - to discuss any issue that you would like. Kevin will be at LaSalle's Market from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on the following dates: Tuesday, May 3rd and Wednesday, May 18th.  We hope you can join Mr. Case for this informal conversation regarding our schools.  If you are unable to attend, but would like to ask a question or give feedback, please feel free to e-mail him at kcase@cantonschools.org.

Student News and Accomplishments:

We are excited to report that Katlyn Campbell, Nate Savino, Katie Jarka, Paige Gnazzo, and Amaria Yancey  won 1st place in the eesmarts contest in the 9-11th grade division.   The eesmarts competition is a K-12 and college student competition across Connecticut that is meant to enhance the skills in science, writing and technology.  The group collaborated on a plan to improve light energy efficiency in our building.  There were over 1100 entries for this contest.  The students were honored today at the Capitol, and have earned a $1500 grant to continue their efforts in energy conservation.  Congratulations to the team!
