The Indoor Track NCCC championships were on Tuesday, February 2nd at Hillhouse. The Canton Boys and Girls teams did very well! The boys came in 2nd place and the girls came in 5th place. We had conference champions in five different events! The 4x200 relay team and the Sprint Medley relay team for the Canton Girls are conference champions! John Solomon is a conference champion in the 55 meter hurdles and the high jump! Will Briggs is also a conference champion in the shotput!
In the last week in fact, there were FOUR school records broken!
- John Solomon cleared 6ft in the high jump
- Stephen Oliver cleared 11ft in the pole vault
- Amber Harraden threw 30ft 4in in the shotput
- Abby Briggs ran the 600 meters in 1:46.28 seconds
Also, two new school records were established at the Bacon Academy Invitational in New Haven on Saturday, January 30th. Stephen Oliver broke his old record of 10'6" in the pole vault by jumping 11'0" to finish 5th in that event (25 teams at the meet). John Solomon cleared 6'0" in the high jump to finish second, and beat the old school record of 5'8" set by Keith Wilson in 2014.

Also at the meet, Amber Harraden set the Shot Put record with a throw of 30'4" breaking the previous record of 29'0" set by Alexandra Summa in 2010. Abby Briggs also set a school record of 1:46.28 beating her previous record of 1:28.00 set last year.
