12/14/2015 - CHS Tech-lings mentor CIS Students
On Wednesday, December 9th, the CHS Tech-lings ventured across the street to their old stomping ground,
Canton Intermediate School, to assist students in fourth grade with coding. The idea stemmed from a global movement, Hour of Code, which is worldwide attempt to introduce children of all ages to computer science and coding. Mr. Bishop, K-12 STEM Coordinator, organized activities for Canton’s students which included visiting code.org to practice writing code at various different expertise levels. The CHS Tech-lings were assigned to fourth grade classrooms to assist students and their teachers with the activities. For many fourth graders it was their first exposure to coding. The Tech-lings had a blast being mentors, and teaching younger kids, and the feedback from the CIS teachers was very positive. Congratulations to Tech-lings Alexandra Benoff, Thomas Legace, James Vetro and Chaz Williams for being amazing coaches and role models.
