C.I.S. STAR GUIDE FOR FAMILIES, October 8, 2015
On Wednesday, October 28th, C.I.S.’s fourth graders will participate in PUMPKIN MANIA!! Each student will receive a 6” pumpkin to use in the creation of a character from either literature or history.
Students will be responsible for bringing in decorations and props for their pumpkin creation. If they wish to add a body, we recommend a coffee can or a 2 liter soda bottle with the top cut off. Suitable supplies include scraps of fabric, yarn, fake eyelashes, and anything else that fits into the theme.
This special event will be discussed with the students in art to help prepare for the big event. There will be basic supplies the students can use (ie. paint, paper, yarn, limited fabric, buttons, etc.)
Classes will have 80 minutes to create their piece. Any elaborate bodies or backgrounds (both optional) should be prepared at home and brought in prior to the event! To see more sample pumpkin creations, visit Mrs. Costello’s website:
From Abe Lincoln and Harry Potter, to the Statue of Liberty and Mona Lisa, the possibilities are endless!
We look forward to an exciting, creative day!!
