1/20/2015 - Meet Canton Middle School's New Principal

Canton Middle School Principal Appointment

Superintendent of Schools Kevin D. Case and the Canton Board of Education are extremely pleased
to announce the appointment of Mrs. Pamela C. Hamad as Principal of Canton Middle School
effective July 1, 2014. Mrs. Hamad will replace Mr. Joseph P. Scheideler who will be retiring from
the District on June 30, 2014.

Following a comprehensive national search, Mrs. Hamad was selected from a strong pool of
candidates. Superintendent Case described Mrs. Hamad as “an excellent communicator and
visionary with a passion for working with teachers and students who will work to support the
achievement of all students, making her the right choice for Canton Middle School. She has both the
personal and professional qualities the school community was looking for in their next Principal. She
will be a great addition to our District’s Leadership Team and will continue to build upon the
tradition of educational excellence at Canton Middle School.”

Mrs. Hamad states, “I am extremely excited to become a part of the Canton Community and to build
on the strong traditions of Canton Middle School. I look forward to this meaningful opportunity to
serve the students, families and staff of Canton Middle School.”

Mrs. Hamad has been serving as Assistant Principal of Catherine McGee Middle School in Berlin,
Connecticut since October 2011. Prior to her arrival at Catherine McGee Middle School, she was the
Social Studies Department Chair and Social Studies teacher at Berlin High School. She was named
Berlin’s Teacher of the Year in 2011-2012. Mrs. Hamad has proven herself as an outstanding leader.
She has a thorough knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment at the Middle School level.
Mrs. Hamad holds both her Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree from Colgate University and
Sixth Year degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida.

Mrs. Hamad will begin as Principal of Canton Middle School on July 1, 2014.
