9/27/2019 - Hello Week

From September 23-27th, 2019, thousands of schools and youth organizations across the United States participated in Start With Hello WeekThis program was created  by the Sandy Hook Promise, a group of parents from Sandy Hook who are committed to ending violence in schools by bringing communities together. Activities are aimed at easing social isolation and promoting kindness and inclusion.

Superintendent Case asked that ALL schools in Canton to participate in this ongoing and important campaign. Cherrybrook, CIS and CMS planned activities with their student body to celebrate this mission. At CHS we also participated in small ways during the week.  Moving forward, the goal is to have students support the mission of the Sandy Hook Promise/ Start with Hello campaign by planning and implementing monthly activities in CHAT and/or as part of club activities.

This week CHS we shared in the following  activities:

  1. All staff met outside to welcome all students as they entered the building for the day.

  2. Staff stood outside their classrooms to further welcome students throughout the day.

  3. A class activity was held where a short video was shown to explain Start with Hello, followed by an activity where students wrote messages of kindness and positivity.  These notes were then put up in a visible place in the school for all to see.

  4. Each student was given a green bracelet to indicate support of this mission.
