3/22/2019 - Canton Students Compete in State's Qualifying Round of Chemistry Olympiad
On Thursday, March 21, 2019 five students; seniors Cole Glasgow, Andy Obrzut and juniors Matthew Andrews, Meg Babbitt, and Jason Ho competed in the state’s qualifying round of the Chemistry Olympiad at UConn.
Both Cole and Matthew advanced to the second round of the competition based on their performance on the multiple choice part of the exam. There they sat for the written part of the exam followed by a laboratory practical. They will soon find out if either will be one of the select few chosen to sit for a second similar exam in the hopes of being selected as one of twenty students nationwide to train in Colorado in preparation for the world competition in Paris, France later this year. Collectively as a team, Canton tied for second place in the AP section of the competition based on the team’s collective multiple choice scores.
