Canton Middle School was incorporated by the Canton Board of Education in 2004 to implement the
best educational practices for Canton's early adolescents. The school comprises grades 7 and 8
and will serve approximately 271 students in 2012-2013. Canton Middle School was extremely proud to
be named the Connecticut Association of Schools Middle School of the Year – 2009-2010.
Students in Canton Middle School are divided into one of three interdisciplinary teams.
Each student is part of an advisory group, led by a faculty advisor. All students take a
core academic program (English, science, social studies and math) with over 75% electing a world
language. There is a broad range of courses in the various arts, including band, chorus,
technology education, computer, art, and FACS. A wide ranging co-curricular and athletic program
is maintained as an integral part of the school's mission.

Incoming 7th Grade Orientation
On Monday, February 10, 2014, there will be an orientation program for all incoming 7th graders and their parents from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. This program will provide an opportunity to meet teachers, see the school and hear about the academic program. Additional details will be sent home to parents prior to the date.
Northern Regional Music Festival
Remarkably twenty Canton Middle School students successfully auditioned for the prestigious Northern Regional Middle School Music Festival. Students will play in the festival with students from all over northern Connecticut on Saturday, March 8 at Central CT State University. Click here to read more about it.

A supervised hour after school in the Middle School Library is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Grease: The School Edition
Thank you to the dozens of parents who volunteered their time and efforts to make this year’s production of Grease: The School Edition the outstanding success it was. The Jan. 25, 26 performances were sold out and the production got rave reviews. Thank you to the directors: Kelly Casorio, Elana Chafetz, Caroline Strunk, and Linda Klusek. Supporting the Wounded Warrior Project
As part of our Veterans Day ceremonies, Canton Middle School students created and accepting donations for American flag pins and raised $1,200 for the Wounded Warrior Project in the process. The Student Council sent half of it November dance profits to the same cause. In total the students raised $1,990 for this very worthy cause.
Mrs. Cheryl Adams Honored
Eighth Grade science teacher Mrs. Cheryl Adams was recognized by the Connecticut Association of Schools on November 19 at the AquaTurf for her exceptional work in assisting our students in honoring and recognizing veterans. Mrs. Adams organized students and staff in the creation of antique wooden American flags and flag pins. The flags were presented to World War II veterans and honored guests on Veterans Day this year.
