Mission Statement:
Canton High School welcomes and is committed to meeting the curricular and organizational challenges of providing a high quality education for all students enrolled in grades 9-12.
The administration and faculty believe that a just and democratic society depends upon educated citizens who value diversity and ethical behavior. To ensure that all students become successful, self-reliant, lifelong learners, Canton High School strives to promote a safe and encouraging environment. Recognizing that individuals have different talents and learning abilities, we believe that it is the school's responsibility to provide both a stimulating and comprehensive curriculum, as well as an accessible extracurricular program. Canton High School acknowledges that since the school alone cannot accomplish the task of educating its students, the support and involvement of the community is crucial in achieving our goal of providing a meaningful, educational experience for all students. Learning, as well as ethical conduct, must be the shared responsibilities of the students, their parents and the citizens of Canton.
Expectations:
Each Canton High School student will:
- Develop and demonstrate a knowledge, awareness, and understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship and of the diversities of American and global cultures.
- Develop and demonstrate the skills necessary to reach academic potential and become a life-long learner.
- Develop and demonstrate the ability to listen, view, and read with understanding and communicate effectively.
- Develop and demonstrate an ability to formulate questions, to think creatively, to research information, to solve problems, and to make cogent decisions.
- Develop and appreciate the uniqueness within ourselves and others.
