All students will be given a 42 page College Planning Guide for Juniors prepared
by the Director of Guidance.
Students will be asked to make individual appointments with their guidance
counselors to do their Six Rung
Selectivity Ladder. This ladder is a tool that can help students and their
families with the structural process of college selection. Parents are encouraged
to call their child's counselor for an appointment. 693-7711

CANTON HIGH SCHOOL
Canton High School Adds School To Career Services to Guidance
The first Career Center at Canton High School opened in September and houses
the School to Career program. The Center, part of the Guidance Department,
is a one-stop location for students interested in exploring career choices
and educational requirements. The Guidance Department and the School to Career
office will offer comprehensive services for all students at the school.
School to Career prepares students for careers in the global economy
The STC program provides a wide range of offerings to assist students in locating
information about careers, developing a broad understanding of careers, how
to qualify for these careers, what education and preparation is required and the pathways to take. Students will
also have the opportunity to experience careers in person through field trips,
job shadows and internships in their senior year. Seminars will be conducted
for interested students in creating a resume, writing a letter of application,
preparing for an interview and how to conduct themselves and dress for an interview.
