Ray Douglas Bradbury was born August
22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois. Since age 11, Ray Bradbury has had a
passion for writing. He greatly enjoyed writing short stories throughout
high school. In 1938 he graduated from Los Angeles High School and ended
his formal education. In the same year his first story was published,
Hollerbochen's Dilemma, and by 1943 he was writing full-time. Although
his formal education ended in high school, he continued to learn from
many other sources. For instance, Ray Bradbury sold newspapers on street
corners. He also spent his nights at the public library or in front of
his typewriter. Bradbury began to gain fame from his Articles called "The
Martian Chronicles" published in 1950. They were about Earth's attempts
to conquer and colonize Mars. People quickly took to Bradbury's unique
writing. Some famous novels by Bradbury are Illustrated Man, Fahrenheit
451, and Something
Wicked This Way Comes. |
