The Art 9 Experiential is a foundations course incorporating making art as well as, using technology. Student will create artwork in a series of class assignments specific to the 7 Art Elements the building blocks of design artists use to create artwork; the 7 Principles of Design, how artists arrange the Art Elements in a work of art.
Students will be given time to create and work on their Digital Portfolio files and reflections during their Art 9 Experiential.

Digital Portfolio:
Students will use technology: computers, Internet, electronic mail, digital cameras, scanners, video cameras in the creation of digital portfolios in the art and design computer lab.

The course will also focus on the following Essential Question(s) and Enduring Understanding(s) to gain insight into the BIG picture or BIG ideas regarding the study of art:

    Essential Question: Does great art depend upon deliberate attention to design, technique, and the Art Elements and Design         Principles?
    Enduring Understanding(s)
    “Art study is important because it helps us become knowledgeable about what our culture deems significant, and this                 knowledge may help us become contributing members of our society, and the world”.
    “Art helps us solve complex problems by developing our ability to clarify issues, to think critically about them, and to                 judge the information related to them” (Report on Arts Education by the National Endowment for the Arts).
