The Special Education Resource Room program at Cherry Brook Primary School provides individualized and small group instruction in a resource room setting with a special education teacher. Each child’s program is tailored to his or her individual needs. Children with learning disabilities receive individual or small group instruction in the resource room as needed.

Our program also serves as a collaborative/consultative model in which special education teachers work cooperatively with classroom teachers to serve children with less severe disabilities. The special education teacher consults with classroom teachers to design and implement learning programs that can be provided within the regular classroom. Special education teachers and instructional aides work within the classroom to assist identified special education students as well as those experiencing learning difficulties prior to formal referral of these students to special education.
