PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
My objective is to prepare your child for additional chemistry course work whether it come in the form of AP chemistry or college chemistry. ~Chemistry is a required course in many fields of study in college from engineering through medicine. ~A recent article published in Chemistry Teacher reported that many college chemistry professors are exasperated because many children lack the basic foundations in chemistry and are thus ill prepared to successfully meet the demanding challenge of freshman level chemistry. ~I have personal information that confirms this to be a real concern. ~Therefore I would be lax in my duties if I did not make this my number one priority.
So expect that your child will be challenged, probably more so than in any course he or she has taken thus far. ~Understand that your child will be expected to write comprehensive laboratory reports as will be expected in advanced chemistry courses. ~Expect that your child will be required to commit to memory a great deal of information that will be pertinent and worthwhile to their mastery of chemistry. ~Expect that your child will be exposed to introductory laboratory techniques that will better prepare your child for laboratory chemistry in advanced courses. ~Expect that your child will be required to show mastery of all topics on relevant homework assignments each and every night. ~
Finally know that I will be available to assist your child in any way that I can to make sure that he or she is successful in every aspect of my expectations so that he or she may be successful in later chemistry courses and life.
