Study Skills
Topics to be covered:
- Study Skills: taking notes, test-taking strategies, mastering homework assignments, effective studying. Support for academic classes will also be provided when needed.
- Self-Management skills: Gaining awareness of self (personal strengths & areas needing improvement, setting goals, managing time, noting success, changing your own behavior or habits, communicating with peers, teachers and other adults.
Required Materials:
Notebook (one, or more- that works for you!) for general education class notes.
Pencils & pens
All materials necessary to work on assignments and personal goals
Student Grades: All work is equally weighted
- Grades will range from A to F
- Students will be graded on their daily performance in the classroom. This includes:
- Students will be required to complete a personal goal sheet that checks time management, planner organization and prioritization/ planning.
* If you are absent from school you are responsible for tracking down and making up missed assignments. You must follow the policies for all academic classes as given by your teachers.

Teacher’s Responsibilities:
Ongoing assessment and immediate feedback is key to successful learning. Therefore I will assist student with developing their study skills, assisting of transferring of skills to their academic classes and life outside of school. I will also provide individual conference time to discuss personal goals, commitment to goals and steps taken towards achieving goals, and any other issues that students may wish to discuss. I expect the students to put forth their best effort and in return I will give them the same respect.
Parent’s Responsibilities:
I am enlisting your help to make your child’s education a positive experience for him or her. Please make every effort in stressing the importance of his or her education. Additionally, please provide the necessary supplies as well as a conducive environment in order for you child to fulfill his or her homework expectations. Educating your child is a team effort.
