WEEK OF JUNE 14-18
6/14 Continue to work on projects today and tomorrow (14th and 15th). Projects due as FINAL
EXAM on Thursday, June 17th. Class meets in Room 102 from 7:45-9:45. If projects are
completed earlier, I will accept them,grade them that day and return to you the following
day. You have put forth so much effort into these projects,please take them home to share
your work with your family! Projects/exam WILL NOT be accepted after this day and time.

6/17 FINAL EXAM-See above.
WEEK OF JUNE 7-11
6/7 Return tests, furniture reports. Review and discuss.
6/8 Return family info for final project/exam. Correct and type for final hand-in.
6/9 Continue on final project/exam; refer to rubric for final assessment of parts required and
standards for final work.
6/10-6/11 Continue to work independently. On Friday, classwork grade to be given for work
completed to date.
WEEK OF JUNE 1-4
Your interior design projects are really taking shape! Don't forget to make a copy of the original floor plan before you add furniture and electrical outlets,switches,etc.
6/1 Basic floor plan should be completed at this time with electrical on a second copy.
6/2-6-4 Continue to work independently on your project seeking teacher and peer input as you
proceed.
WEEK OF May 24-28
5/24 Return assignments on Wall Arrangements.
Hand out Furniture cut-outs for scaled floor plans. How to Use?
5/25 How to draw and what should appear on an Elevation of a room.
5/26 Furniture prices-suggestions as to resources for project.
5/27 Work independently on final project.
5/28 Hand out rubric for scoring Final Project. Work independently with peer and teacher
input on project. LAST DAY OF CLASS IN ROOM 215. Monday we move to the Cafeteria
for the last 2-3 weeks.
WEEK OF May 17-21
5/17 Final Project/Exam requirements are distributed.
Class time will be used to work on the project daily.
5/21 Friday- One page summary of the family for which the project is designed is DUE!
WEEK OF MAY 10-14
5/10-5/11 Complete oral presentations of furniture reports.
5/12 Written paper (3-4 pages doubled spaced,typed and including pictures is DUE.)
Review what to look for in well-constructed furniture. Short test tomorrow on
overview of furniture unit.
5/13 TEST: FURNITURE STYLES AND CONSTRUCTION. Return Message Boards.
5/14 L.A.U.N.C.H. Day
WEEK OF MAY 3-7
5/3 Library-Research on a specific time period of furnishings. Assigned paper with topics
and expectations has been given to each student.
5/4 Continue with library research.
5/5 Organize paper in written form with visuals to present orally to class.
5/6 Oral presentations. Additional notes as to furniture construction,wood finishes,etc.
as specific reports are being given.
5/7 Oral presentations continue.
WEEK OF APRIL 26-30
4/26 Class will not meet due to DUI Assembly.
4/27 Continue to work on message boards. Self-evaluate if completed.
4/28 Set up cpompleted board in display case in the hallway. Work on worksheet on
wall arrangements of pictures,mirrors.
4/29 Introduction to interiors: history of furnishings.
4/30 Choose research topic of a specific furniture and time period. Will research to share
with class in preparation for a field trip to a furniture store.
WEEK OF APRIL 12-16
Continue in-class work on message boards. They are really demonstrating the amount of creativity and resourcefulness it takes to be an interior designer. Watch for our display in the
hallway outside of Room 215!
4/16 Continue to work on message boards. Many are ready for the final hangers on the back.
4/17 Video: The makings of a Log Cabin. Worksheet: How is a log cabin constructed?
4/18 Complete the video begun yesterday. Worksheet in class on decorative accents in a room.
WEEK OF APRIL 5-8
In class work on creation of message board. Fabric and foam board due Monday, 4/5.
WEEK OF MARCH 29-APRIL 2
3/29 Introduction of ideas,examples,list of materials required for "home arts" project.
3/30 Obtain specific list of materials required for the project you have chosen.Discuss:
stores where to purchase items,do others have materials you might use? Cost-keep as low
as possible. Emphasis is on creativity and "using what is available ." Remember that many
successful interior designers use what is available for materials. Materials due tomorrow.
3/31-4/2 In-class work on project. If materials are not in class to begin work on 3/31,your final
grade on the project will be affected.
WEEK OF MARCH 22-26
Due to half day openings last week, the project of the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design
of interiors will not be due until Wed. 3/24.
3/22 Class will not meet today due to half day schedule.
3/23 Work on and begin to assemble your project. Identify why you chose the pictures you did;
how do they relate to the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. Refer to scoring
rubric before turning in project tomorrow.
3/24 Project due at the end of class.
3/25 Due at end of class:worksheets on Chapter 11 and 13.
3/26 Self-evaluation:what have I learned about the use of the elements of art and the principles
of design when planning interiors of a home?
Next week due to CAPT testing and the absence of many students due to testing, come prepared to begin a home-arts project or "something for your room." We will discuss this on Friday. Those of you who are testing can catch up the following week. We will brainstorm ideas on Fri. 3/26.

3/1 Using text, refer to Chapter 2. Be able to discuss the issue of how "housing affects
Canton." Find specific examples from your text and correlate with issues in town.
3/2 Worksheet-Chapter 2: How housing is influenced by culture and society.
Worksheet-Sources to find to complete info from careers present in the housing industry
at the Career Fair on the 10th of March.
3/3 High Tech items today and in future housing.

students knowledge. Review for Test. TEST: Thurs.2/26 or Fri. 2/27.
