Welcome To Technology

The Canton Intermediate School Computer Lab is a friendly, fun, environment where children can learn important skills that they will need in the ever changing technological world we live in.

The students have a 45 minute lab period each week, which involves both teacher lead discussion and independent assignment.  The computer curriculum integrates with the classroom to further enhance what the students have been taught in language arts, math, science and social studies.

Students are exposed to modern software packages including; Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint, and they are also given time to explore software tailored to student learning such as Type to Learn 3 and Inspiration.  Thanks to the Canton Education Foundation, we have just purchased some exciting new art software called CoreFX. I look forward to integrating this software with our outstanding art program.

The lab is also open to any student who wishes to work independently on a personal project or teacher assigned project during "Open Lab" sessions.

Last year I began, with the assistance of several parent volunteers, to offer a small computer club during recess. Each grade has an assigned recess each week when students can sign up for extra lab time. They can work in groups or individually to explore new ideas. I hope to run this club throughout the winter months.
